WebSep 9, 2024 · The L30 head retains a small ramp for swirl. This is part of why the chamber is different (?) (my guess), as the L31 gets its swirl in the chamber purely from it's chamber shape. The L30 uses a smaller 1.84 intake, so shrouding is not really an issue. Before I bought these, I had a set of World Products S/R Torquer 305s I had planned to use. The main reason to want the vortec stuff is the heads. There really isn't any advantages in just the short blocks.
