WebThe gospel of Mark is the oldest gospel, and there is no birth in the gospel of Mark. In Mark Jesus becomes divine at his baptism. Mathew and Luke use Mark as a source but they add the birth narrative to the story, in these two gospels, Jesus is divine from birth. John goes even further, for John Jesus had always existed. WebMatthew is the only one who wrote about Joseph, Jesus’ parental father, dreams he had with angels. Luke does not describe any of the dreams. Matthew probably heard the story from Joseph directly. Their descriptions of the event are so different but they both agree that Mary and Joseph lived in Nazareth and Jesus was born in Bethlehem.
